Default Exo terra glass tops

I will be going to get a piece of glass cut for the top of my tank because i dont feel safe with eggcrate, mesh netting and syran wrap..plus glass willl allow more light to pass and keep humidity and heat in better. I noticed on the top in the edge its not square..how do most get it cut to fit? another thing..should i get a piece cut out in the back for ventilation? i will be getting 2 holes cut in the top back for my recirculation vent but wondering if my humidity will be too high without the added vent in the back or will my recirc vent be enough? thanks.

Would it be easier to just cut the glass so it fits on the outer top part? rather than inside and having to cut the corners some way? ..help please

I just lay the glass on the outside on top of the screen panels. I have my glass cut 1/4-inch smaller than the actual screened opening. That way it's easy to get out. If you cut it to close to the exact opening it's really hard to get them back out.

I switch my glass panels around depending on the time of the year. In the winter I usually have both pieces of glass on top to help retain heat and to keep the house's heat (dry, forced air gas heat) from evaporating my moisture in the vivs. In the summer I either take one panel out or both depending on my light fixture so that heat escapes.

I don't recommend siliconing in the glass panels for reasons mentioned above.

EDIT: I get my glass cut at Ace Hardware, 1/8-inch double strength. Pretty simple and cheap.

Good Luck!

Thanks, ill go get 2 pieces cut today. The only thing is that with the screen panels the middle brace part will that not take away much light?
