Default Drip System

Anyone here ever experiment using a gravity fed Drip System?

I was thinking of trying an experiment by rigging a small container (quart size) with some air tubing coming out of it. Place a needle valve on the tubing and start a gravity flow through the tubing and throttle the flow back with the needle valve to a VERY slow drip. I'm thinking this would be a cheap way to keep the humidity/moist up in a viv, might come in nice on those short over night away trips??

Anyone ever try something like this?

I was thinking exactly the same thing, for a chameleon set-up. I drew a little diagram here. I realised it's much to heavy, and that i'd just in the end be better off spending the money and getting an automated mister or dripper on a timer.

Here's the drawing, for the hell of it.

Misting tip probably wouldent work, but dripper would.

Someone did this at a IAD a few (many) years back. They used some type of cloth which gravity fed water down "vines" into the tank.

I use a similar method with my Jackson's chameleons but do pump water to the top of the vine.

Yeh, I'm thinking just a drip. On a gravity system the holding container would most likely not produce enough "head" to equate to the needed PSI to make a "misting" action take place, but a very slow drip I think would work.

I'm just thinking of something that would hold enough water for 2-3 days and slowly drip to help keep humidity level up a bit more.

I know systems like the one you're thinking of are out there! Seems to me I saw a system like that for sale on a website somewhere but I can't remember which one exactly. The dripper housing was a stubby black cylinder that could have up to 8 or 10 lines come out of it, which you could position anywhere in your tank. Does that ring any bells for you or anyone else who may have seen the unit I'm talking about? If I come across it again, I'll post the link here or msg you or something! I hope that helps somewhat!
