best way to make fake rock

how should i go about making a rock cliff for a tank? what are the safest easiest and cheapest ways to get realistic rock structure

How about carving cliffs out of hard styrofoam, attaching to the tank with silicone and coating it with silicone and coco fiber?

the coco fiber backgrounds look great but they are kind of a mud or forest floor type of appearance. I am planning on using that for parts of the back as well as woods and corks but i also want something that looks like stone, something to contrast the organic look of the coco and wood

Maybe epoxy resin? could be painted.
