Default Repti Flo 250

Hello all. I am new to the site and am starting my first build. It is a 29g and will have a false bottom with a water feature. Can someone give me the measurements of the repti flo 250 ? I have one on order and need to know so I can start building my false bottom. TIA Mike

The dimensions on a Repti-Flow 250 are 2"x1.5"x2.75" (LxWxH).

I personally think the Repti-Flow 250 is junk. I used one in my first tank and the pump would constantly clog. I would have to tear it out clean it out and a week later it would do the same thing.

I much prefer the minijets 404 and 606s. These babies are powerful, inexpensive, and never clog.

If you go with the 250 make sure you set it up in a way that no substrate will get to it other wise I would expect you will have to dig it out now and again.

Best of luck with your tank!

you could probably set it up with a some sponge material before the intake to keep debris from clogging it, plus it would further help keep the water from getting gross by providing benefitial bacteria a place to break down ammonia and nitrate.

Thanks for the replies. I will keep it in mind when I do another tank on the quality of the repti flo. It is already on the way so I'm going to use. I am going build a chamber just for the pump and place screen around the chamber. I did not think about the sponge. I have some filter material for fluval canisters for my aquariums that I can use along with the screen. Hopefully that will save the stress of having to un clog it a bunch. Thanks again for the advice and replies. Mike

Clogging, easy solution, make easy access to the pump, and cover it with some fiberglass mesh, couple layers, this si what I do to all my intakes, it helps ALOT!

Something like this...

Aqua Jet 404 or 606 all the way. Mine has been running non stop for 4 months with no clogage. I took it out to examine the impeller...nothing but a little slime. I have it accessable in the back corner...which is not all that accessible. I can get to it and take it in and out if needed. It is inside a plastic container with large holes cut in it. The holes have screen siliconed over them which keeps out the large debris...the smaller stuff just gets pumped through. If you want a waterfall....dont use an irrigation manifold as seen on the blackjungle diy viv photo show.

Well I got my pump in. I am to the point with the viv that I was ready to put the pump in and test it. Not very strong at all. I don't believe it will pump the 15-17 inches that is needed for the water fall. I have ordered a new pump today- aqua jet 606. I will have to wait for it to come in now. Things are on hold till then I guess. Thanks again for the replies and advice. Mike
