Default Large Viv Construction Journal UPDATED w/ PICS

After looking over the forum for the last month for a very good construction journal I have yet to find one sooo.... I decided to go ahead and make my own. I decided this time around I will be making my own tank from scratch. The dimensions I have planned out are 24" L 24" D 30" H. So it will be a Tall cube of sorts. I am Ordering the glass tomarrow so I dont know when it will be ready. I plan on detailing my progress every step of the way with pics so Hopefully this will be a great viv. Already know what i am going to put in it but you will have to wait till the end. LOL

Default Update w/ Pics

So I ordered the glass the other day and suprisingly it came in a lot quicker then I thought it would. I got 1/4 inch pieces of glass. And to be perfectly honest they are a lot heavier then I thougth they would be. LOL when this tank is done it is going to be one very heavy sucker.

Those are my glass pieces.

I went hunting in the woods the other day and came across these pieces of wood that will go perfect in my new viv.

I guess my only other questions is i want to drill the top piece of glass for some mister nozzles by mistking. What size hole do I need to drill?

I was suprised to see how so many people commented on my start of my viv. ops: Its ok though I guess its not in a very exciting stage right now. With a little bit of research I found out that I am going to need to drill 1/2 inch holes for the mistheads. I am thinking weather or not to do 3 double mist heads or just two I need help! What do you guys think? I did the conversion and the tank comes out to 75 gallons or just about. Here is the process so far.

I have not siliconed the top piece in place b/c I am going to get it professionly drilled. And currently I have figured out the door and am working on a recirculation system for inside.

Hope you all like and will give me some good help this time. :P

Looks good so far - I am anxious to see how you are going to do the door. On the misting heads, I would drill the 3 holes and you can always plug one if it seems too much. Keep posting.

Thanks for the tips. I think I will drill three holes for 3 double headed misters so that will be a total of 6 different mistheads. I think that should be enought. Also for the door I think I will go Raymond's Route using polycarbonate. You will see soon.

Hey , I have a 24x24x36 " and I just have 4 mister nozzles in it and seems to be enough . Drill the extra hole and if for isn't enough for you add 2 more .
