I use Magnolia and Oak leaves all the time from my yard. I just put them in a pot and boil them for a few minutes. Then I drain them and lay them out to dry. I also let them dry for about a week or two in my basement. This gives them time to brown out (Magnolia leaves), so they look more natural.
