Default Great stuff skip step

I wondered if you could skip the silicone step and just but the cocoa straight on the great stuff while its wet. No more than a minute after sprayed.

Well, I decided to try this on one of my tomato frog vivariums, and i just ended up with splotchy brownish GS :? - the peat I was using didn't adhere at all. So, at least in my experience, you have to use some other adhesive to stick soil to foam.

I have tried it - hated the results. It is very difficult to get adequate coverage to hide the ugly yellow of the GS. As the foam expands, spaces between the coco fiber you put down start to show. So, you just end up going over it with silicone and coco fiber. Plus the stuff has a nasty consistency - and if you really junk around with it will "collapse" and not expand well.

There's a thread around here that's on this same topic, and I'm pretty sure the consensus from that thread was the method didn't work too well. I get enough GS on me when I don't play with it, I'd hate to see what I'd look like if I tried doing this

I have used that M3 spray and it works very well for me. You do have to spray it on pretty thick and I usually go for a second coat.

In a previous thread the questions was asked, "How safe is it?" I called 3M then and they themselves do not recommend it for the application of food services or animals.

I just completed two 20H verts and used touch 'n foam and pressed in coco fiber. So far I'm very happy with the results. The touch 'n foam is the exterior type in the black can which clearly states fish safe. I worked in about a 1/2 sq ft at a time, laying down the foam, sprinkling in coarse coco, tree fern pieces, and orchid mix. On top of this I dumped on the ground coco fiber and pressed it all in. The foam expands quite a bit but it can be poked down as it cures. It is a very quick process and eliminates the silicone.
All materials were dry. I'll post some pics soon.

Where did you get it? I've picked up the regular stuff at Wally World, but I've hunted high and low for the black stuff in stores and online and I can't find it.
