Default new method

Since everyone is always trying to find a better way to stick coco fiber to the background of their vivariums I have a new method. You can buy M3 super 77 adhesive and spray it on the background and then just dump a some of the coco fiber on it. You may have to do repeat a second coat depending on how much you spray the first time but it seems to work and you dont have to wait for that silicon smell to go away. If there is not much mist from the spray, but if it does get on the glass some it will wipe off with a wet paper towel. The other option is to cover up the glass. Not sure if anyone else here has tried it but thought I would let everyone know.

What about toxicity? Is it "food safe"?

I have thought about this stuff too.. This is what I use to adhere carpet to speaker enclosures.

What is it and how do we know it is safe?

Well it is FDA approved and I have a friend that has had his set up for over 6 months now and the frogs are doing fine.

T thanks Reed, I'll look into it. Will it stick coco fiber to glass? How does it hold up under water?

If you are referring to this stuff I would NEVER use it in a viv. Like most spray adhesives they contain: acetone, isobutane, heptane isomers, propane plus other really nasty chemicals. There is a reason that they say "Volatile organic compouncs" and may cause eye, skin, nost and throat irritation and may affect the central nervous system causing dizziness. All of this is straight from the back of a can I have in front of me.

It does fine being wet from the misting, but i am not sure about running water. Also it seemed to sick the coco fiber to the glass a little but when i wiped it with a wet paper towel it came off easily.

I think that is when it is wet breathing silicon fumes would do the same thing. Like i said it doesnt seem to be affecting the frogs and it does say FDA approved on the back.

Feel free to read through the entire product warning, then tell me if you would risk $200 frogs on $8 spray adhesive.
