Default Cheap cypress for those in central Florida and a question

There is a place that sells driftwood for super cheap a 1/4 mile from Waldo flea market. I got some cypress knees for a DOLLAR! They had more driftwood than I have ever seen. I cried....but just a little. Now the question. Has anyone had trouble with the small amount of bark on the knees? I have done a search but missed if anybody had posted about it.
Thanks

possibly (hehe...I don't think I even looked at the sign ops: ). Big outdoor lot with a bunch o' carvinings and large panels. And a "butt-load" of driftwood (1 butt-load=2.67 metric tons, I think, I'll have to check the conversion tables)

They go behind the loggers and cut out the stumps and the other "useless" dross that the lumber companies don't want. Their loss is our gain.

rz-hehe I was raised in south-west Ohio...not too many cypress knees, eh?

Ooh, my sister goes to UF. I'll have to have her bring me a bunch when she visits.

I am in central Florida and would like to check this place out. Can you tell me what the name of this place is/ where it is located?

Thanks,

Kris

You may be surprised where one can find cypress knees. Would you believe Alaska?

True, the knees in Alaska may be fossils, however, some years back cypress was common all over the U.S.

Also, bald cypress is winter hardy here in CT. I have a living tree growing by the side of my house.

Yep....Tom's Cypress it is. I stopped by there early this morning and *collected* enough driftwood to fill up a box about (about 20 lbs worth) and they are going to ship it back to me in VA (wow, UPS ground shipping is cheaper than I realized).

Then I headed to the Sarasota FL area to Tropiflora to pick out a bunch of small broms for my 2.5g office array. Unfortunately I arrived there about 10 minutes prior to closing so I did not have much time to *browse*.

The owner told me that they have over 2000 varieties of broms in their greenhouses (not to mention the orchids, ferns, and such).

Tropiflora is quite the place and I definately recommend visiting them if the chance affords itself to you.
