Do you have a suggestion of what to do with them, Ed?

No, I read it.. it is also possible he was trying to make the best of the situation so you wouldn't end up with several hundred tadpoles and frogs that you had to feed for the rest of thier life... What are the Michigan rules on possession limits for leopard frogs and/or tadpoles?

Does this apply?
THE CAPTIVE WILD ANIMAL COMMISSION ORDER

Scanned closely and/or read it. Didn't see anything that applies much. I also read

http://www.michigan.gov/documents/Re...s_164917_7.pdf

And did not see anything particularly helpful there.

I linked the first part since while it doesn't specify amphibians it is clear that animals cannot be released except by licensed rehabbers...

With the second link you are clearly in violation of the following sections
Quote:
3. Amphibians other than those listed under General Section #1 may be taken from the last Saturday in May to November 15.
7. The daily and possession limit for amphibians shall be 10 in combination.

I don't see what you saw in the first link, though Ed. Where is it?

Sorry I linked the wrong page.. as I understand it, this was passed http://www.michigandnr.com/publicati...ermit_regs.pdf

part of the requirement that is important since you have non-native species
Quote:

(8) Captive animals shall not be allowed to come into physical contact with members of the general public, domestic animals, including livestock, or animals held under the authority of a permit issued by the department to hold wildlife in captivity.

Just curious where you found those eggs? They look like a wood frog egg mass in which case they are not very uncommon.

just my 2 cents but leopard frogs don't make good viv tenants as they can be quite skittish & bounce of the glass with injurious sounds (and I'm sure injurious results) often. A person I know has tried keeping them & had to release them (they were not raised from tads but caught at a juvenal stage ) as they were thumping against the the glass day & night. I would imagine that a person would have to have a 300g tank or larger with a very large water feature ( as they like to spend large amounts of time in water ) even then I'm not sure they would be content. That said I commend you for your interest in trying to educate people & kids in herping perhaps a common tree frog may be a better choice...just saying

This is the first time I have found any eggs since when a child (but back then it was just a few Fowler's Toad eggs). I wanted people to see what eggs looked like.

Edit: I realize now it was a mistake. I wish I had a camera and snapped a good pic.
