first stages of my 18 cube Exoterra...........
..........soon to be new home for my Suri cobalt Tincs
this is what i did over lunch today. im trying a more or less "soil-less" one. the bottom layer is 1/2 inch coconut husk pieces, on top of that is a layer of sorta fine milled cypress mulch on top of that will be a very thin layer of finely milled LFS, a lil bit of peat moss for added acidity and a lil bit of finly ground coconut husks. this is mainly to give the Utrics and moss and liverworts a good base to get started and there is no where enough peat and fine cocohusk to even come close to clogging the bottom layer. i havent added the peat or the fine coconut husk for the most part. the green you see on the wood is live LFS that i added. i dont expect it to live but i placed it there cause its easier to mess with than the dry stuff to fill in some crevices in the wood where they will help some orchids and other plants get a foot hold. any comments? tonight ill finish the top most ground layer and start adding plants. there is going to be a shallow pond in the lower right hand corner where the pepples are
