Default 20 tall for azureus

Hey everyone, just thought I'd share my first build for dart frogs... I've done others for my RETF and Indonesian Whites, but this one has been my favorite since dart frogs don't mess up the plants as much as larger frogs do.

I started with a larger water feature and as my azureus grew, I filled it in for more ground space... tried an orchid out but it didn't do well... I think it needed more ventilation than I have in there.

new growth on the moss :-)

Used an acrylic false bottom with holes drilled in it since I couldn't find the egg crate shelving when I was looking for it. used pvc to support the false bottom... The background is great stuff (it did contract btw), silicone, and dried peat moss... the wall features a cascade/drip wall, and a waterfall into a small water feature...

thanks yall... hard to find good help & good plants locally. I'm in Memphis and we just don't have much here.

the spidery looking one is a Tillandsia bulbosa 'Red Form' the small red brom is a Neoregelia lilliputiana 'X fireball'. The Tillandsia should bloom bright red eventually (and is starting to now) and the X fireball should turn red eventually as well (I placed it in brighter light but its relatively new), adding some color. The biggest challenge with this one has been adding plants that do well with good color.

This was my first build with a false bottom and it's been awesome... In the future I'm going to use a pvc pipe to provide access to the pump so I don't have to move any substrate or anything. Also, if the pump burns out I won't have to undo anything to replace it. Right now I'd have quite a bit of work to do to get to it.

on the background, I used two pieces of wood and lots of great stuff foam with plywood to protect the glass.

If anything happens to the pump though, I'm screwed... live and learn.

this piece I cut out for the side.

this shows the old water feature, but had to add more dry space so I filled it in with large rock and moss... the orchid ended up dying.

but one year later... this is how it looks

I've always loved mossy tanks but know many people prefer primarily leaf litter. I simply try to have a good amount of both.

I wish i had half as much success with moss as you do. I love my leaf litter, but I love the way moss looks as well. Great viv and hope you continue to have success for many more years.
