NCSU do you have high humidity or a place where the frogs can get some water (be it pond, brom, cup, ect)? I know auratus love the humidity and this causes them to come out more.

i keep a small, shallow pond in all of my tanks. normally just one of the cheap plastic rock looking ones you can buy at a pet shop for 2 dollars or so. most of my auratus just like to hide around, under, and sitting on the leaves of the mini violets i have planted in their tanks.

The auratus are the shyest frogs I have, if you look at the list on my signature, most of the others have never been remotely accused of being shy!
Anyways, when I got the parents, they were so nervous that I had to tape paper to the outside of the tank, because they would always try to jump through the glass, after about a week they settled down and I took the paper off. They still are fairly shy though, usually you can see them for most of the day, but head for the hills when they see the camera coming!

I've noticed they really like to hide under things, like leaf litter, loose moss, and their favorite, a mossy piece of driftwood.
Enjoy,

I have 5 of them from Brian and 3 are very shy. 2 are out quite often and one is very bold. I knew he/she would be because on the drive home, from picking them up, it would hop around and watch the senery go by while the others hid.

When auratus are young they are shy. My Costa Ricans are like that until about 6 months or so then they start getting bolder. All the ones I have raised are out and about just as much as my bolder frogs like Bicolors are. So I'd say give them some time and some may become better.
