Default Temp. Holding Tank.

Well, I just made the canopy for it today, it came out decent. It holds 2 50 watt 18" Fixtures. One on the door, and one mounted on the top back wall.

Here are the pictures. It still needs to be planted, obviously !

My wood working skills are ever so slightly improving.

I Hope you all enjoy.

Please leave feedback for plants that I should get for this tank. Thanks!

That's your temp. tank?

Looks nice. If you are using it as a temp. tank I'd stick some pothos in there and a few broms?

Someone with more plant knowldge than I will chime in

Yeah, it's my Temp. tank.

I know in the future I'll use it for something else. Such as a quarentine tank, or grow out tank or something similar. My PacMan frog used to live in there, until my little brother fed him a newt... (RIP Herman!)

Well, all I did to it was empty all the Coco fiber out, empty the gravel, clean the gravel, clean the tank, touch up the back ground, put the gravel back in, and then the peat moss back in.

Should be good.

I need to get some 6700k 18" lights. I'll pick them up next time i'm at "The Depot"

Thanks all!

temp tank? with a temp tank you want something that is very easy to strip down and sterilize. that background is going to be hard to do that with. i would just make that into a permanent tank and use something for a temp tank. you don't want to use that for something that is sick and then have to ditch the tank.

suggestions for temp tanks,
small tanks, 5 for thumbs, 10 for larger frogs
orchid moss and leaf litter substrate
some pothos clippings and/or fig clippings
you can add other plants like broms but i tend to get attached to my plants (with the exception of fig and pothos) so i don't...

Well, it's basic job is going to be to hold my darts until my paludarium is done. So.. can I not use it for that? It's also for growing plants, for the paludarium as well.

Hmm.

you can use it for whatever you want, but IMO it's too nice of a tank to be a temp tank. thats just IMO though. have you allready quarentined your froggies? if so then u could definetily put them in there. i would just put something over the dirt substrate though, they don't like when they get dirt stuck to them. i would just use leaf litter with orchid or spagnum moss below that.

I would be very cautious of that type of lid. With the lights contained they will create a decent amount of heat which may make the tank too hot.

I've got ventilation all figured out, incase that does happen. Will be monitoring the temps within the next few days.

Thanks for the heads up!

Also, with nothing separating the lights from the frogs couldn't they come into contact very easily and be fried to death?

thought of something else, darts hate dirt substrate, it gets stuck to their bodies and it is really annoying to them, a layer of leaves and moss would fix that problem, as well as give them more hiding spots.

paludarium for darts? most darts really arn't great swimmers, and the if you are using gravel, it's not good for their skin.
