Default Golden clutch

Okay, this is the spot in the tank I saw them disappearing under the moss.

This is what I found when I lifted off the top layer of damp moss. They had dug all the way down to the cocofiber substrate and hollowed a spot for the eggs.

Here are a couple of pictures of the clutch after I lifted it out into a petri dish. The tads look quite far along and I'm assuming close to hatching. I hope I took care of them correctly, it would be nice to produce a batch of F1's.

I put a tiny bit of water in the dish, sprayed it and placed the whole thing into the box I use to incubate pdf eggs.

I think your tads are actually trying to hatch.. if you look closely you will see that the jelly is breaking down. I also couldn't see any individual egg capsules. You may want to add more water to that petri dish...

I did, that was the clutch before I did anything to it. At that point I had only dampened the dish with a spray bottle. Before I put them away, I picked away some of the excess substrate and poured in a little water. Then I gave the whole thing another spray and placed them in my egg box.

I may wander back out to the frog room before lights out tonight to give them another check.

Thanks,
Deb

I went back out to the frog room to check the dish. There were about a dozen tiny tads free swimming already. The bulk of the clutch was still in the egg mass. Hopefully they do well and I caught them in time. I pulled the eggs on day six after they were laid.

This is pretty exciting for me, my first mantella tads!
