OMG

I've had some gigantic spiders building webs over my doorway on my porch. I'm always scared that one is going to drop on my head, when I'm coming or going.

Tonight, I had to step outside for a minute, and, something large landed on my head! I could feel it crawling in my hair and getting closer to my neck. I bent over and let my hair hang down, away from my head (hair is pretty long), and, out crawls a cute little Anole.

If I wasn't so terrified, I'd have stuck him to my ear.

Note to self- It might be time to wash or cut your hair if you have wildlife residing in it!

Barn Spider (Araneus cavaticus). This is a particularly pretty one from last year.

wow, that is a pretty spider, Ed.

Brown anoles are not native to KS and considered an invasive species in Florida.

I finally got to witness it eat tonight. I have not observed it eating drosophila, but it ate a waxworm within minutes of putting it in the cage. It really likes the basking lamp I put in there and is settling down. Hopefully someone can adopt it.

Primarily the risk of pathogens/parasites are the same as with frogs.
If I remember correctly pentastomids are also found in anurans.. (see Pentastomids and the tetrapod lung. [Parasitology. 1999] - PubMed - NCBI)

I was fortunate to get the baby lizard.

rain_frog had already named him/her "Binky" so I decided to keep the name.

Binky gets light mistings twice a day.

Springtails are fed twice a day.

Binky appears to be tolerating food well so we will start on fruitflies.

I have take 1 pic so far. I plan on taking more.

You got the little guy to eat springtails? Interesting. How do you feed out the springtails to him / her? It's your anole now, so if you want to give him / her a different name, you can lol.

I just want to clarify that it was Carolina Anoles that I wore on my ears. I've never actually seen one of the Cuban ones here and I've never worn Cuban jewelry (not that there's anything wrong with it ) .
