Default flu season...

Everything was going fine Friday. The weather was nice, I was in a good mood. I went outside and painted the rest of my hood for my tinc's cage after school. My boss called if I wanted to work that day, of course not though! My room got clean, all the boxes of supplies, filters, fruit flies, etc. was put away. My mom was getting the house done, but was starting to feel kinda sickish.

I ate some dinner, nice bowl of stewed tomatoes and some grilled cheese. Perfect combination. Then, I went upstairs and watched national geographic and give my sister's birds some company. I drank some coke and ate a few chips. Nice friday night.

Then, I started to feel sick. Funny, when my sister got home, she reported she was feeling lousy. Gina then runs to the bathroom and pukes. Later, I run to the bathroom and barf. I felt fine for a few minutes, but I repeated the same thing at least 5-8 times that night!

I was pretty scared actually. Everytime I'd try and drink some fluid I'd throw up. No way to rehydrate. I was pretty weak and feverish. I didn't fall asleep until 6 in the morning Saturday. I kept worrying that somehow, we've gotten food poisoning.

I woke up better, but I was aching all over. I took some motrin, V8 Splash, chicken noodle soup, and gatorade, and luckily I didn't puke anymore. My fever went down too. This morning, I felt lots better. Got plenty of sleep and ate some solid food for once. but I still have to put in an eight hour shift at work, ON SUPERBOWL SUNDAY....at the GROCERY STORE. Hopefully I'll get by, I need the money...

Anybody gotten sick yet? I never get the flu shot...my folks say they always GET the flu after taking it!

Just be careful. If you keep feeling really bad you should probably go to the doctor. My sister was feeling really bad for a couple days and finally had to go to the doctor. She had a fever of 102. She actually had both strains of the flu at the same time! Poor thing, I felt so bad for her. She lives with my mom and they even gave her some medication for my mom just in case.

It has ran it's course thru our house as well.I had if for three days, nothing to bad mainly diarrea and major body aches. My wife got hit by it last weekend. She had a temp of 103 and felt like she had been hit by a truck.Saurday morning I was just about out the door to run some errands and she said" I wan to go to the emergency room"
She was tested and had the flu. We had to stay there for 3 hours while she was on an IV because she was so dehydrated.
By Monday she was back to work and taking her college courses so we are back to "normal" now.
I hope next year they have enough serum for everyone to get their flu shots. They said it is availiable now but kind of late in the season for us.

Yep, I've had a two lane highway through my body for the last day, now I'm left feeling like I got run over by a truck! And to think I bought the Pedialyte for frog rehab! Water and pedialyte for a whole day for the similar reason, fear of anything else not wanting to stay where I put it. Ugggghhhh. But it's done.

I have to do a term paper and presentation of the evolution of flu and vaccine development for my Evolutionary Virology class. I figured it would be an easy topic to research and sure enough I already have 200 pages of research to skim through.

Heather, does the influenza virus need cool weather to survive? I have always wondered why outbreaks, seasons occur.

Flu shots are great. I have gotten them since 7th grade. Including this year

I'm no expert here but I believe more people get sick in the winter months because more people are inside. Hence no place for the germs to go except in YOU.
