Default Snakes on a plane . . .

Baby pythons escape on flight in Australia - News- msnbc.com

just a reminder. . . if you're going to take herps on a plane be sure the airline knows (and approves) and PLEASE seal the container properly . . . this is really sad and very bad PR for the hobby - NOT the right time for this crap.

Oh and I believe Smittens pythons are the same thing as Stimsons (Antaresia stimsoni) . . .

Or at least hire Samuel Jackson to transport them!

Or just let Chad Brown help you out.

He's no pampered celebrity like Bad M' fer' Sam but I've seen him loosen a few filings on the field back in the day.

Ship Your Reptiles - Ship Live Reptiles Easily, Securely and Affordably

P.S....I caught a Hummer limo with some friends a few years back in Vegas and the driver said he just dropped Sam off.

He also said that he asked if Sam had the "Bad mother F'er wallet" and he showed it to him!

He also said he only tipped him 2 bucks...and thats not the first time Sam did that either.

Now back to your regularly schedualed rant of snakes...

Its sounds like the snakes were known cargo and that they were packaged properly as well. Snake bags inside styrofoam boxes is a pretty common way to ship snakes.

Yeah I was just using this as an example of how "extreme" the reactions of the public can be - two flights canceled and the entire plane fumigated for the escape of a couple 6" harmless pythons - that represents a pretty significant impact on the airline's business. Could you imagine the fallout if the news got hold of a story where "poisonous" frogs escaped on a plane?

Obviously the snakes were not properly packaged though - hence the escape - unless they find evidence that they were "released" mid-flight.

I agree, obviously there was some human error with the packing, or the load shifted and damaged the package. The biggest problem that I can see, which may be the cause of the fumigation is the potential for the snakes to interfere with critical components required to fly the plane safely. If I remember correctly, the cargo hold is sealed off from the plane which is why crashes like the funjet flight that crashed in the everglades happened. Other then the hot floors, there was no smoke that entered the cabin to warn the crew. The threat of the snakes making there way into the cabin would be pretty minimal.

I hate that when that happens my frogs just went everywhere and scared people to death. No seriously that is definitely bad PR for us all and it sucks that they couldn't find the snakes that escaped because now there is 99% chance they will all be dead now. It was highly unlikely they escape off the plane, in my opinion.
