Cool Frogs on a plane

Hi.. I was wondering if anyone has taken frogs on a plane (via carry-on) with them recently.. I am taking a flight and was wondering if there are any issues with getting some red eyed tree frogs and flying them back home with me... any comments and or tips greatly appreciated.. Thanks ...

Peter,
If you haven't done so definitely check with the airline for rules. I've transported parakeets and guinea pigs and it worked out ok. If I remember correctly they allowed reptiles/amphibs but I think they had more specific rules about type and maybe vet checks or something. If you use the search on the website you can usually find the info. If you already did all that then I'm not telling you anything new. When we traveled with the birds and guinea pigs they seemed to take the trip just fine.

Ken

The title of this thread made me laugh.... like snakes on a plane-the movie

but anyways, here is an informative thread on the issue from earlier this year- lots of good information.

I did awhile back with reptiles, but only once from Oklahoma to NY. What a ride! I had to pay extra, get permission and explain the circumstances and what not. I was using Continental Airlines if I am not mistaken, could have been Delta. It was quite of few years ago, almost 10 years ago. The truth of the matter was a major cooperation to be unnamed lost my computer for 6months during that period of time, and I wasn't about to send that the animals I bought for my collections at home to do the same. Get me. Well good luck to yeah, laws probably changed since then.

I just took 4 Vanzolini to a guy in California just a month ago, I put them in a deli cup with a small amount of moist sphagnum and into my carry on. I then returned with a couple of banded Intermedius the same way, no issues.

This is the preferred method.

I call it "Don't Ask, Don't Tell".
