Default Frogs On The Plane?

Kasey had ask this a while back but didn't get a response. I was also wondering, if I do purchase any frogs at IAD, what can I expect at the airport? What would be the best way to go about it? What would be the best way to transport them with the least amount of stress?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Rhonda

First expect to be very neverous!
It really depends on the person you have checking your bags. I have called the airline before and had them say it was ok one day and no a week later, so really know one really knows. I have brought frogs back from IAD and sent them right through the X-ray machine (I have never had troubles because of this and I know several frogs that have been doing this for years). I pack the frogs in a foam lined duffel bag and place the deli cups inside, I normally come home with quite a few plants, and stick the plants in deli cups also and stack them on top. If the people open the bag just tell them, they are plant cuttings and tropical frogs from a terrarium convention. NEVER tell them they are Poison Dart Frog, they won't like the poison part.
I would get there early enough that you can arrange to ship the frogs if need be.

Hope this helps,

Thanks so much Benjamin. That is really helpful information. It would have dawned on me to not say poison just after I would have said it and seen the looks on their faces
I will have the nervous part down pat as I worry about everything
I have no idea what or if I will even bring back home anything (that is the part that worries my husband, he knows me too well. It won't be a matter of what it might be because I will want it ALL!)
I do have one more worry though. After IAD we are going to the beach and stay for 3 days before we fly back home. What would be your suggestion during this time if I do get frogs? Should I have a rubbermaid "shoebox" container with me, and put them and the plants in there? I wouldn't think that they would like staying in the deli cups for that amount of time. I know that I would get a fruitfly culture from the show to take with me. It really doesn't seem like that would be any different from being at home. Actually, those three days would be more quiet for them Then I figured that I could put the "shoebox" in my carry-on. Please let me know what you think. I am just trying to think ahead just in case. Anyway, I am hoping that they focus their attention on my husband who can't go through the metal detectors at all because of his pacemaker.

Ryan I had to laugh when I imagined that happening! I think I will try to watch the screen when they pass through

Thanks so much.
Rhonda

Another thing you could do is place shells in your suitcase around the frogs, that way, they see the shells, but not the frogs  they would probably think you're smuggling the frogs from the wild in florida...
