Default Lovin the new Cannon 100mm Macro

Lose a ton of detail scaling down for the forums but this thing has an insane magnification. These are all handheld so I'll hopefully get a lot less blur when I pull out the tripod

Pretty impressive. I can't get over when I take pictures of darts, I can see the pores that are attached to mucous glands on the frog's skin (that's what I'm guessing they are). Kinda amazing

I have been playing with my new xti. My buddy let me borrow his 100mm lens over the weekend.
I am still learning all the details, but it's still pretty easy to get some nice shots.

Yeah, that is a great lens- but I actually added the Sigma 105 mm Macro to my kit. It's a little bit lighter than the Canon 100 mm and I get some great images from it. We can compare when we meet again, Lee!

That's the lens I use and I absolutely love it!

Lee, you shouldn't loose any details when scaling down.

If you are croping on the picture you should first do the crop and then scale the image from 250dpi or 300dpi down to 72dpi as it is the most the computer screen can reproduce. Anything over that just makes the file heavier and doesn't reproduce any better detail.

I usually scale back my photos for email or internet posting to 30cm wide and 20cm tall and 72dpi which makes them about 250kb's

Thanks for the info Alex. What I meant to say is that they are uncropped 1:1 so if they weren't scaled down you would be able to see the pores on thier skin.

unscaled and cropped

My favorite lens... though it has not been out of my bag in ages.

Lee, what font are you using to water mark your pics?
