Default the midwestern Ice storm

All froggers out there in the midwest,

I hope everyone is safe as well as their pets. 500,000 people are now without power in Oklahoma. Kansas hasn't experienced the worst of the icestorm, but we're not out of the woods yet until tonight when it's supposed to stop pouring freezing rain.

I'm in Norman, Oklahoma. Haven't had power in a couple of days. I think there is more wood on the ground than there is standing. I'll power pictures later. I still have gas so I'm staying warm but my plants could sure use some light I'm sure. I wonder how many days they can be in the dark without showing ill effects? And I'm BORED.

The new superintendent of my school district decided that everyone should go to school today. 25% of the buses couldnt complete their routes because of icy roads. I saw TWO accidents on the way to school. I havent witnessed an accident in almost a year!

Arent you glad the schools care about children?

Good luck to everyone, I hope you all stay safe!!!!

No trees have fallen yet. How are your animals managing, Skronky?

If my power went out, I'm not as worried about the dart frogs as much as the clawed frogs and dwarf frogs as they are tropical.

It's not too bad where I live west of Chicago. Should become interesting as night time and the temperature falls.

Where are you? It's bad here. No power outages, but all the roads are slick with black ice.

I'm in Naperville. It's ok for now, but I expect it to get ugly soon. It's been raining all day and just warm enough that it hasn't turned to ice. That should change starting.... now.

Here in the epicenter of ice land, Tulsa, OK, it is still pretty bad. Half of the roads in my neighborhood were blocked by trees yesterday. Hardly anyone I know had power this morning. More are getting it every hour, but might still be 9 more days before full power is restored. In certain areas of town there is hardly a tree without damage. I lost my power Monday about 11:30 AM. I went scrambling, catching frogs, and getting provisions ready. I ended up staying with friends. They didn't have power either, but they have a fireplace, and that was enough to keep the frogs and dragon warm. The cold blooded and warm blooded spent the day at the same friend's locksmith shop, because they have power. Tonight the friend's house has power, so things are much better. I am hoping I will have power again in the next few days, but my neighborhood is old, with above ground lines, so it could be a while.

In Tulsa, a city of less than 400,000, we had more than 200,000 houses without power. (Including the suburbs there are about 800,000 people in the Tulsa area.) This morning they were saying that 1 out of every 3 households in the whole state did not have power. Mind you, the southeastern portion did not have any problems at all. Most of the ice seems to have run from around Oklahoma City to Tulsa right around I-44. Or within 75 miles of I-44.

My job had power, so I worked 4 hours this morning and took 4 hours vacation for the afternoon. I needed to get some supplies and such.

The animals seem to be doing OK. Two of my four Leucs have been very active. The other two are not as active. One of them had a real tough time. I had to leave him in the house when I left yesterday. I just could not find him, even after tearing half of the viv apart. I did find him today, he was cold, but still moving. I am hoping that he will be OK. (From what I have read on here about cold and frogs, he should be fine.)

I am wishing all of the froggers in the area the best of luck as this was the worst ice storm in Oklahoma's history.
