Default Varanus timorensis: in there somewhere

Close to a year ago I bought a pair, male and a female, Timor monitors.Soon after, I even built an enormous enclosure for them so they'd have plenty of space. I was so excited about the view I'd have of them basking on the branch under the heat lamps, or perhaps patrolling the grounds for something palatable. Well, I've only seen them a few times. The female is almost always hiding. Sometimes for days on end. As much as I do love them, they can be very, very boring animals in my eyes. They seem too secluded, at the point of appearing like an empty, forsaken place. I've decided to give them to a friend who has his breeding business. He has a large enclosure all ready for them. I will miss them, but I rarely see them now as it is.
P.S. prior to my purchasing them I research a myriad of times. I relized they were flighty creatures and very timid. I just didn't relize that it would be to this extremity.

Hehe, yah, mine are the same way. Still like em, though. They stick their heads out of the hideboxes and watch me in the morning. With those big long necks, Ive had a few people think there were snakes in the cage.

In that respect they have a uniqueness. I love that typical Indonesian appearance; long slenderbody, and a very narrow head, for the most part. I may decide to go ahead and keep mine, in attempt for them to breed. I do like them, but wish I'd see them more.

While mine are by no means bold, since Ive done better and keeping their humidity closer to 60% (via automated fogger) and given them alot more cover in the form of cork curls and such, they have been more visible.
