Default Darn Bugs! (crickets)

My Gf HATES crickets. She has been very wary of my buying and bringing them into the house for food. (for my pets not me) With the colder weather the outside temps have been dropping and outside crickets have been making their way inside her home. Last night was a very excited discussion about the difference of the small tan crickets I purchase and the huge black ones that find their way inside.

She's set on getting one of those ultrasonic pest control devices from the infomercials. I'd prefer something else as I dont think that my food crickets will be worth much if that things plugged in. She will settle for some other means of removing the 'foul beasts' from her home. I've looked online and found little that was economically of time feasable.

Any suggestions or help would be very appreciated.

Thanks Geoff

Don't forget to get something to eat the snake...
sorry couldn't resist.
Honestly, check all doors and windows and such. Then purchase weatherstripping and a few cans of GS... Use where you see fit. Good luck. I feel for you, my wife hates all my FF cultures and such.

today I am trimming back all the bushes along the front of the house and will be armed with a few cans of GS. funny that I have some laying around the garage. 8)

after that I guess I will seal up/winterize a few of the windows we dont normally open.

If all else fails... I'll turn the house into a huge Viv. Wonder how many gallons this place is. Sure heating and lighting would cost, but the food supply would be taken care of.

thanks for your insight guys

Yeah, for those of us who live w/ women... There is no "tuffen up" we've all tried, and maybe succeeded once or twice. But the majority of the time it's "Oh yeah, you tuffen up. and do something about it!!!." It's so sad how if the woman in your life isn't happy. You're not happy. Best of luck again. I'm sure whatever measures your taking will help. Hey, maybe you can get her to help you. Tell her it'll be a bonding experience, and that you two can talk while you work. Hopefully she'll love it!

Yeah well I too am in that boat. My GF cringes each time I ask her to feed my PDFs when I am at work. She refuses to dust the FF too. Must be the transfer part when a few escape.

She feeds your frogs!!!!, I was told, and I mean strictly told, "I will not give them bugs, never. What if the bugs get out and get all over the place?" I'm hoping this will change, but I doubt it.
Really, Really Sorry to hijack here, but man am I jealous. Maybe in the next life I'll get the frogs first and use them as a "screening agent" to pick out a suitable woman. oh well.

Yeah she knows how much I care for my frogs so she does it when I can't feed them. She doesn't do crickets period! So I know what rikontiki is saying. All in all I guess I am lucky. Shoot the Red Bastis are hers!

I would just seal up the outside of the house as best as possible with GS and Silicone.

Hey, I guess I am kinda lucky then. After I took my girlfriend to one of the meetings here in Michigan she has been hooked, I bought a pair of Imi's for her, for her birthday. Ever since she hasn't minded FF's, she still doesn't like to touch crickets though.
Going around with some GS to fill in all the cracks is a good idea, they can come in from just about anywhere.

Curt.
