Default "Night shot" of a tree frog on the wall

I was outside doing some late night BBQ, and spotted this fellow on the wall, so I thought I'd try out the "night shot" feature on my camera, I was surprised how well it came out, being that I couldn't even tell if it was in focus when I pushed the shutter button.

You ought to get on your species lists, we've only got 12 frogs in the state. Here's a good website with a list, if you're curious as to what the other 11 are. http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/er/herps/amphibians/

That would be either a Cope's Gray Tree Frog or an Eastern Gray Tree Frog, Hyla chrysoscelis or Hyla versicolor. They're pretty much identical, aside from their chromosomes. Versicolor is a tetraploid to chrysoscelis's diploid, if I remember right. They sound different, but I'm dead awful at distinguishing between sounds like that, and even then it's not reliable because they sound different at different temperatures too, unless both frogs are present and calling.

They're neat frogs, we used to find them on our house all the time, catching bugs that were attracted to the light. Nice photo, Brian!

I was drying my hair at 5am when I noticed a green blur crawling down my bathroom wall beside me. Hopelessly half asleep I grope around and found my glasses. Running back and forth, what to do, what to do, I looked up to see this tiny green frog looking back at me with giant eyes. I ran to the kitchen and got a cup which I placed over it and took it outside and let it go on the sidewalk. It must have come out of the vent from my ceiling since it came from above.
