Imus fired, what do you think?

Well I figure this should be good for a 5 or 6 page debate :P As for me, what he said was awful, do I think he should have been fired-no. Do I think that rap and hip-hop music ( if you can call it that) is worse -yes! I`ll keep the rest of my thoughts to myself. Thanks, John.

Could care less. He hung himself. If you're in a position like that and don't want to be a target/example, you keep your mouth shut about things that are going to piss people off.

it was definetally a rude thing to say. And I dont blame the girls on the team for being mad for being called "Hoes" or "nappy headed" and an apology might be needed here. But to just jump on the racist band wagon just because he used the word "nappy" I think is going to far. People in the media call people out all the time and say rude things but they dont loose there damn jobs. People are so touchy about racism towards groups like black people that it gets taken to far.

He had to know while he was saying it, that it was going to get him into trouble. If you ask me it was more his producer fault the Imus'. His producer said "ho" first, then Imus for some dumb reason repeated it. Then added the word "nappy". What an ass.

i wonder if imus was african american what would of happened to him. or if he would of said a bunch of white b*tches. calling anyone a ho is not exceptable no matter how you look at it. maybe he should of said those words to the music of a rap song.

I honestly don't support or oppose his comments, but what happened to the right to freedom of speech? It seem to me freedom of speech is now a joke if you say anything controversial. I am not aware of any laws against racist language (not that I think what he said was racist), just crimes that were committed where race or gender preference was a factor (hate crimes). I think he was excercising his right to free speech and lost his job because of it which is my eyes is a great opening for a huge lawsuit for violation of freedom of speech. Granted, I am sure he was in an at will contract situation, but I think to fire him because pompass Al Sharpton didn't like what was said is clearly wrong. Just my .02

Just follow the money......He was not fired for over a week, but when advertisers started to pull their adds off the air, that is when they steped in and fired him. It was not about racist coments it was about add revenue.

Y`know, when I started this topic I told myself I was going to keep my thoughts to myself(should have known better) I guess what angers me the most is the total grandstanding by Rev? Al and Jesse Jackson. I don`t remember see a press conf. protesting Snoop Dogs latest Girls Gone Wild video, which by the way I`m sure is full of WHITE collage girls. How about Rev? Jackson having an affair and cheating on his wife a few years ago. There were no protests because Rev? Al would lose the 30 people that listen to his lame ass radio show. John
