I'm sure those who breed geckos or other lizards have seen the hemipene but this is a first for me, and really cool.

we were actually discussing hemipenes in my herpetology class today. my professor told some good stories about them trying to catch sea snakes while they were mating and having the females (who are twice as big) drag the males along while they try to escape since the hooks/ornamentation on the hemipenes is meant to keep them stuck in the females cloaca
