Preparing for Ecuador
So it looks like I'm going to take my 5th trip to the neotropics and actually visit the Amazon, a dream I've had for the longest time. I'm going to be going to Ecuador to participate in a herpetofauna research program for three weeks after the new year. We're going into two of the national reserves cataloging all of the herp species that we come across for a field guide of the area. The places we're going to have a high endemic rates of species, so the likelihood of finding new species is reasonable. I would be totally psyched if I found a new species, even if the group found a new species.
I've been trying to figure out what dendrobatids occur there with little success, unfortunately. It looks like there will be some Epipedobates there and some thumbnails, but I'm not entirely sure of all the species I should expect there. It'll be a blast I'm sure!
