Default FEDEX CERTIFIED LIVE REPTILE/AMPHIBIAN SHIPPING!!!

Finally, a break thru with shipping! Thank you Zach Shepard of Serpant Pets for sharing this wonderful info....

You can now set up an account and become a certified live reptile/amphibian shipper thru FedEx... no more telling them its "live plants" and skirting the rules... there was a huge petition about this last year or so trying to get shippers to listen to the reptile hobby and let us ship thru the cheaper overnight carriers... and FedEx actually listened!

After setting up a free account with them you just need to send them a test package to demonstrate how you ship (to show them the animals won't get loose in transit and what not) and then they'll send you the paperwork so you become a certified shipper!

I'm still reading the thread that goes into detail on the subject, but damn I'm happy that we actually got someone to listen to us!!

For anyone who ships a good number of frogs each year, PLEASE SUPPORT THIS EFFORT and take the time to sign up!

Yea, that's very nice. I just shipped an "orchid" last week.

Has anyone ever had FedEx ask what is in the package to begin with....just curious....I think the only question I was asked (once) was whether I had dry ice in the box.

I've often had them ask about contents.

Is there a premium for this service? Does anyone know?

I just hope they don't make the packages wait for a "special" plane...unless of course, said plane is climate controlled!

From the sounds of it, its just an agreement that they understand what you are shipping and you understand they do not guarantee it.
