Default Farm Raised?

Exactly what does the term farm raised mean? What is the difference between farm raised and captive bred?

I dont know all the major points, but what i do know is captive raised is more or less under very controlled settings free of parasties and such, meaning the animals (amphibians) would be very healthy.

Farm raised from what i understand is just a large breeding farm where not as much care is taken to prevent parasites and such, more like mass production? You should treat farm raised frogs as WC due to parasties they may have.

If i have any of that wrong some one please correct me.

From what I've made of it, all of the farm-raised dart frogs that are being imported are bred in outdoor green houses, raised to their adult size and then shipped up here. Whether that's how it is really happening is questionable but that's what the importers that recieve the frogs are told. It's possible that these farm-raised frogs are simply just wild caught frogs that are kept in captivity for a few months in a greenhouse and are then sent here. Farm-raised frogs should be treated as wild caught frogs.

Default Farm Raised

I would use the word farm raised loosely. The import of reptiles and amphibians from undeveloped counrtries is loosely regulated at best. Most likely the farm raised animals that you are talking about are more farm "collected" then farm raised. Most people if they really knew what was going on would consider them wild caught.

It could be all of the above.. or it could be something like... if it's in south america the breeders are called farmers, but if it's in north america and europe, we called them breeders...

Farmers sell their products for cheap, breeders aren't
