Default Green Foot Leucs

I finally found out where the line bred rumors are coming from on the Green Foot Leucs.
As far as I know a certain company has said that they bred all their leucs from WC individuals and the chocolate leucs and green foot leucs all came from the wc standards(whatever that means) that they had bred. The truth is that they had 3 Wc frogs breeding, which produced a chocolate leuc here and there but they wouldn`t live long. One of the "employees/partners" of the company flew up here to trade some alanis and patricias to me. He asked for a few of my leucs because of the troubles they were having w/ the "chocolate or Charlie Brown leucs" as they were called back then. This is where they acquired the "green foot" part of their collection from me as CB individuals, which were then all bred together. So this is why people think that the green foot and chocolate all came from the "standard" lines. The truth is that "standard" line comprises the recessive gene for chocolate and also has the green foot leucs partially bred into them. Which is why you`ll find green foots intermixed w/ the chocolate and standards but green foot leucs are a "real" morph from a different importation.

Interesting. A couple of years ago I ordered two leuc froglets from a vendor here on the board. One of them was standard and the other was a green foot. I was stumped by this. Luecs obtained from a long time breeder here on the west coast never produce green foot leucs. Thanks............

I realize this post is very old .... however, i am still confused by what's being said up there ...

Are "green foot" leucs a true morph/locale? Or are they simply a specific line of standard leucomelas?

I recently acquired a group of 4 "green foot" leucs. Should I only house them w/ other green foot leucs? Or should I discourage designer line breeding and feel free to trade them as standard leucs????

Their feet aren't super green, but they do have some green to them. Also they are much more orange than the yellow standard leucs I have seen.

Thanks in Advance,
Brett

It depends on the line information you can obtain on these 4 from the individual you got them from.

Thanks for posting, this information sounds too old but there are so many people who are new in fishing and i think they all need to start with these points.

I brought in a couple batches of green foot Luecs from Europe as CB animals in the '97, '98 time frame, I was told by my German contact they were a true morph. These frogs did not originate here in the states, most of the frogs imported did die from Chytrid but a few survived. These were brought in at the same time as the original Mint Terribilis imports, the 2nd batch of imports if I remember correctly.

just seems like google doesn't know much about them. if they're a true locale, why can't i find any information saying where they're from in the wild?

That's interesting mark. When I get a chance to talk to Taron again, I'll see who he got the parents from. It's cool that this hobby is still small enough that you can reasonably try to track this information. They're still little guys; only 5 months OOW or so. So i have some time to get more info before they're of breeding age.

-- probably meant to say frogging? when did that become a verb anyway? to frog.
