Default Citronella's finally laid

Over the weekend, Southern California residents knew we had a whopper coming. The weather service was reporting 3 storm fronts were going to hit us this week.

I of course was looking forward to this with great anticipation, and was well rewarded for my patience.

Yesterday the rains started, not real bad, but it was enough. Today we got hammered on and off, a couple of times really bad.

When I was feeding yesterday, there was a lot of calling going on. I watched carefully, trying to see who the guilty parties were and was delighted to see major activity coming from the tanks with Patricia's, Citronella's, Cobalts and Nikita's.

Lots of typical mating behavior going on after the calling, back touching etc.

This afternoon I was rewarded with the discover of a nice mass of eggs in the Citronella tank, and my Patricia's and Nikita's seem to be poised to lay clutches of eggs as well.

I haven't pulled the eggs yet, I was out of "slurpee straws", I may wait until morning at this point.

All in all, a very nice weekend and a great Monday!!

Congratulations Imperial!!!

No matter the disagreements, I am always happy when froggers get some breeding going. I find that many of my tincs get calling together and can have five or six pairs lay on the same day, so it sounds like yours are getting sync-ed (sp?) up as well.

BTW, what did you mean by "slurpy straws"? Is that how you get the eggs out of the tank?!? I find petri dishes work pretty well to!

Good luck with the eggs, Richard.

At the 7-11 stores, they have a frozen drink called a Slurpee. They have these special straws for them which have a spoon-like tip on them which are great for carefully scraping eggs from leaves or sides of tanks. I tend to consider this particular tool a must have.

Unfortunately they rejected the nice coco hut with baby tears draped all over them with a nice clean petri dish, and opted for the leaf litter strewn about the tank. Not much of a surprise really, they haven't gone near the huts since I put them in. The Patricia's and Nikita's started with the huts earlier today, so those are likely to be easy extractions.

Pretty sure the Cobalts are going to lay eggs on one of the plants in the tank to spite me as their tanks are an overgrown monstrosity of vegetation.
