In amphibians while growth slows down once sexual maturity is reached and if we have been keeping the frogs in a manner that gives us a earlier sexual maturity then the captive bred animals will take much longer to reach sexual maturity. Growth spurts really don't occur once amphibians are sexually mature..
For example, it is known that increased photoperiod and higher calories can induce earlier maturity in many animals (including people..)..
