Default Locale Collections?

So there are areas of the Dart territories more rich than others. Huallaga region in Peru comes to mind.

Just a few examples...
Dendrobates fantasticus - "Banded"
Epipedobates trivitattus Hualluga Canyon
Ranitomeya imitator "Bajo Huallaga" or Yurimaguensis
And other Imitaor/Intermedius forms

So I was wondering if anyone tries to build collections based around any particular areas? Sounds like a neat idea. If I add a few more to my collection I am leaning towards making them frogs from the Huallaga Canyon region.

Yeah thats true, expensive too sometimes. Another cool area is Tarapoto Peru, neighboring Huallaga Canyon.

There are the Vents, Variabilis, Epipedobates Cainarachi and Hahneli, the Imitator Tarapoto, there is also a Yellow Banded Imitator. This was all in an issue of Leaf Litter Magazine. Now, I don't know that these are all in the hobby, I know the Imitator are. But it is an iteresting region non-the-less.

You know it's interesting you say that, I was just talking to Zach today about doing some "island" vivs with the various pumilio morphs and the other frogs found on the same islands. The locale specific frogs, other than pumilio, aren't in the hobby, unfortunately, but it'd be a cool project nonetheless!

I agree JP. I think it is a ver neat idea. If I could start over in the hobby I might build my collection a bit different. I just like the idea of having several animals from the same area. I would really like to add a few more Huallaga Canyon darts. Bocas would be really cool to do, especially with some of the islands.

Exactly! Thanks Ric. Such a cool place. Everyone should join TWI so they can read Leaf Litter, it really is worth it.
