Default Imitators vs. Iquitos R/O Vents

Hi all,

All right, so I'm in the process of building a 10g vert for a pair or trio of thumbnails. I'm incredibly excited about this, and I really want something that will be bold, beautiful, and visible -- as hard as I've worked on this tank, I don't want to put something reclusive in it and only see it once a week. I love both Imitators and Iquitos R/O Vents, and I've read in searches that the former are great to have. There are so many different Vents, though, that I'm having a little trouble sorting the Iquitos R/O from the rest. What about these? Does anyone have any opinions or, better yet, experiences to compare the two?

If you have pics too, feel free to add them. I love seeing them.

All the best,
Ash

is really hard to say, i have had imitators in teh past that were both bold and reclusive, i guess ultamately it will all come down the frogs personality.

Hey, I have vents that I have had for 3 or 4 months, and I barly ever see them. It could also be because it isn't planted enough also. I have heard that Imi's are bolder then vents, I have blue legged vents, if I am not mistaken I heard that the Iquitos vents are bolder then the blue legged ones though.

Good luck, and tell us what you decide on when you figure it out, Curt.

I can't compare the imi's with vents because I don't have imis (yet :wink, but vents... I have red vents, and they are a little different than the iquitos. I hear the iquitos are bolder though. Anyways, although mine are a little shy, I can always see at least one of the three in the open, and the ones that aren't out are almost always in a particualr place in the tank so I can see them. My vents are in a 15H and there is absolutly no aggression, I love how well they get along. Good luck

10 minutes ago, I practically had my face up against the glass of the viv while a male imi was calling, maybe 4 inches away. The females were out and about, checking out what all the noise was about. After they begin to breed, imis are very bold. Before they started breeding, I saw them regularly, but not like I do now.

Ash-
I have imitator and they have to be the boldest thumbnails I have ever seen other than some pums. I have a friend who has some vents, and they almost never see them is they are up close. They are out and about until they see you coming, and then they are gone. So in my approximation imitator are the best way to go for bold thumbnails. I have seen breeding behavior, transporting, feeding of tads, and dynamic interactions in a group with imitator. So there is my two cents

Hey all,

Thanks for the opinions. I think I'm gonna go with a pair of Imis. I would do a trio, but I'm worried the 10g vert won't be enough room for them. I'm so excited about this that it's almost ridiculous.

Again, I really appreciate the help!
