Default Lineage of fine spot leucs?

I was thinking of getting some fine spot leucs, and wondered the history/family tree of these...
Are the "fine spot" from a different locale or at least a different importation than the standard form, or are they a sort of "line breed" similar to the way the super blue auratus and T+B are from the same importation?
If they were a separate importation, was said importation large enough that several unrelated "lines" are available, or do they all decend from a small group?

Brian: I cannot help you with the core of your question as I have a breeding trio of a single line. I have not heard a "line" of fine spotted Leucs ever named (not to say there isn't one). It would appear from photos that some fine spotted Leucs in European breeding have rather phenomenal markings. I do not know of anyone attempting to line breed fine spotted Leucs.

FWIW - my breeding trio breed less regularly than standard Leucs in smaller clutches. I have been told that the degree of fine spotting *may* be related to gender - and my small trio tends to bear this out. I know that my yellow trio do produce orange-ish frogs from time to time. The fine spots become more prevelant as they age and some bands that existed when they are froglets slowly break-up into spots over time (although a fine spotted Leuc is easily and distinctly identifiable as soon as soon as they morph out).

I think the fine spotted are much like the banded where they were a separate importation, but I can not speak to if they are a separate population or not. I do think they come from different locations.

Send Sean Stewart an email. I know he's working with them. My trio are from one of his females.
