Default Any Sugestions on Frogs that can live with P. Vittatus?

We have four p.vittatus I love them, but I would like a little more color in the cage. Does any one have any good sugestions as to what frogs would be safe to add with them? Their cage is 2ft x 2ft so there is a lot of room. I really want to add some Dendrobates Galactonotus but I just read on their care sheet that they can be aggressive towards other frogs. I was also thinking about some d.auratus. I really want to add some more frogs, but I want to be very carefull...I don’t want cause any stress to them.

Mixing is generally considered a bad thing. Though you may see a 2' cube as being alot of space, these guys naturally occupy cubic meters of volume as their territory. My recommendation is not to mix, but to get another tank for the frogs you would like to keep.

This thread is a recommended read if you're considering mixing.

I agree with Mike, don't mix. You run the change of getting hybrid frogs. If you want more color in that one tank there are some beautiful, colorful plants that you can add. If you just want more frogs spend the extra money and set up another tank.

I looked at the links along with some other websites…and even though I would love to add some more frogs to the cage I don’t want to put my frogs in any danger or cause them unneeded stress. We have already talked about making their cage extremely green and colorful…I guess that will need to be enough. I REALLY want some more frogs (we are starting to run out of space in our apartment) Maybe I will cut their cage size down to 1.5 feet by 1.5 feet and build a cage of the same size for some new frogs (that is still a pretty good size right? Our 4 Costa Rican auratus have a 2 ft x 2 ft cage the 4 vittatus are hanging out in their sweeter box for a couple more weeks)…I am thinking about getting a couple of galactonotus or 2 leucomelas.

A friend of mine who is not on db has kept them with auratus for several years with no problems. He didn't have any breeding take place though.

We were thinking about putting them with our auratus since they are both from Costa Rica, but the auratus have been settled in their cage for a while now, and I didn’t want to disrupt them.
