Has anyone tried dendrocare? and is it a good product

Alot of people I know prefer Repcal and Hertivite. Thatis what I use on all of my frogs and reptiles and I have had good success with it. Many breeders use this combination for both frogs and reptiles.

We use it, alternating between that and the repcal/herptivite. As we don't use it exclusively anywhere, I can't really tell if it's good or bad. We haven't had any health problems in our frogs or gecko's though...

We asked around about it too. What we find is that the people who have success with it do not use it as an exclusive but rather they alternate with calcium. The gentlemen at Black Jungle use Dendrocare with great success and I'm sure they can answer your question more completely. We have opted to stay with Rep-Cal / Herptivite (The -- if it's not broke don't fix it theory).

I have to agree with Sarah, rep-Cal/herptivite are a great combo and used by many frogers.

I've used it almost exclusively. Use rep-cal every so often. My cobalts have been raised on it with some of the rep-cal. They are healthy and breeding. My final analysis will come once the tads come out of the water with no health problems.

I do know that some people are aprehensive about it. For good reason. There is no reason to change what works for people and I would also recommend the rep-cal/herptivite combo based on what other's experience.

I had some unexplained deaths of froglets while using Dendrocare exclusively..symptoms of calcium deficiency including seizures (deaths of pumilio and lamasi!!!). If you use it please use a calcium supplement. I can no longer bring myself to use it but it is probably fine if used with calcium.

I was under the impression it was a "complete supplement" for dart frogs when I began using it....it could be, but my experience shows it was not (and no, I can not PROVE it was the dendrocare but...but I hold to my view of what happened). Only one death since stopping the product over a year ago and it was a bloat issue.

I bought some Dendrocare from Ed's at last year's NWFF, and have had no issues with it. I sometimes mix it with a Rep-Cal, but since there's no expiration date on the jar of Rep-Cal, who knows how old it is. My azureus are nearly adults now, showing no health problems whatsoever.

I only had the problems with thumbnail frogs and would not expect to see it with the larger frogs...
