A long weekend deal might work, but we could arrange it so those that want to stay a short amount of time can get back to airport ok, and those that want to stay longer can . I need the input from everyone to determine when it is best to go. For me, late summer would work best.

It was a 5 hour flight from pheonix, so I am sure anywhere in the south U.S. is about 5 hours. Keep the ideas and opinions flowing,

the average temp is 75-80 there, and the humidity really wasn't that bad. The only parts that are really warm feeling are the deforested areas because they get the direct sunlight. I wasn't worried about my camera at all in the humidity, I just almost dropped it in the river which made me nervous . Temperatures are perfect there though. If a lot of people are seriously interested in this though, it would be great. I hope we can get it done and do it. Takecare all,

On a side note: Fall is usually the best time to go as it is the "Green Season", or off peak=cheaper. When we visited Corcovado we stayed in Puerto Jimenez for $8/night, dinner including beer ($0.35 a bottle) was $5. Arroz con Pollo.
The only problem with the long weekend plan is that by the time you arrive in San Jose it's almost too late to venture out (4 hr drive[or more] or a 30 min flight the next morning) Travel time has to be figured in and eats up a lot of time if you are planning on visiting more than one location. I backpacked around CR for our honeymoon, it was great but we planned ahead to minimize wasted time. What area are you planning to visit Ed? I'm just curious, I'd love to join but with a new baby on the way in May I'm staying stateside.
