Default Springtail Culture

So I have a springtail culture that has been doing well, and continues to produce well. My question is this; there seem to be small white bugs in the puddles in the culture. I can't tell if they are baby springtails or mites. The springtails seem to go nuts when they come in contact with the little bugs. They seem to be isolated to the puddles. Should I be worried about these? Should I get some isopods to dump in there to control the mites, if thats what they are?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The small white bugs are most likely baby springtails, nothing to be concerned about

Im not sure where everyone is getting that Isopods eat mites? I havent read anything other than them eating decomposing vegitation, fungus and I have witnessed them eatng soft tissue plants where the leaves touch the ground. I would like mor info on them eating mites, or point me in that direction.

The reference is found in the following book, BREEDING FOOD ANIMALS/LIVE FOOD FOR VIVARIUM ANIMALS (2004) and is located in the section where it talks about dealing with mite infestations in white work cultures.
the book can be see here http://www.krieger-publishing.com/natsc ... ogy_1.html

Mites are referred to as part of the diet in a couple of other publications but I don't have the time to run them down.
