Default ff gut loading question????post replies.....interested!

I have a homemade recipe...that works great and got it from my private professional breeder. Added to the media mix is an (optional: add an X amount of spirinila algae to gut load ff)

and yes i do have the recipe if any one wants to know it (saves you money and time as it is a bigger recipe and does not involve banana mush or crazy things like that)....yields high numbers of ff...both melos and hydei..... i'd compare it to media bought at most online dart stores...dry mix)

so my qusetion is.....by adding the spirinula algae to gut load ff as an option, dos this yield better results in terms of feeding....such as bigger darts and froglets etc.???? I wasn't adding the algae product since it was optional in the recipe, but recently bought the spirunila from josh's frogs to see if there is a difference. what do you all think? so interested.

please....post your replies even if you do not know. I can also post recipe if asked. i'm not secretive about anything....no special grandma's secret recipe here  just looking for any posts to this......what would gutloading ff do? Nothing? my breeder obviously does it for a reason....and has great darts that are big....so wondering if this optional add of spirinila algae does help darts nutrition. I think possibly i may have to experiment, but maybe someone else has comments or knows so please post...even if you don't know like me. I'm no expert......just retain knowledge well and have researched darts quite a bit......but nobody can sya they are an expert per sy i guess. Unless you hold a PhD in dart science! i'd be interested in what kero kero has to say to this too...he seems to be more knowledgable than me on froglets and darts atleast. I'm just a low profile breeder

answer whether or not gutloading ff is a pos. or makes no difference or you simply dont know and i'll post recipe. no prob. kristy  8) maybe you already have the recipe????? i would personally think those recipes with mushed bananas and apple sauces and such would attract real fruit flies into the house. not sure though, just a guess...this is a good recipe in my opinion. yields good for both hydei and melos. most things can be purchased at store....couple i have purchased from joshfogs to make the recipe. waiting for your post

I think if you do a search you will find the answer to this.
I do believe I read a thread about unless you feed out the larva to the frogs it really does not make much of a difference.

Because of what and the way the adult flies eat, gutloading them doesn't really work. They aren't actually eating the media, but a slurry of liquids that is on top of the media and not directly impacted by the oddball things you put in the media. The larvae is what is actually eating the media, and thus the one that is going to have the media in the gut when it's eaten.

The purpose of gut loading a critter is to get some extra goodies in the gut of the animal a couple hours before you feed them out... then the predator gets the nutrition of the prey, and what was inside the prey's gut at the time. It works better with some animals than others (those with larger guts for example, and those easier to feed out random foods) and the actually adult phase flies are not one that can be significantly gutloaded, while the larvae definately can.
