Default 3 New Hydei cultures arrived today… : (

Due to USPS not being able to read “THIS SIDE UP” my new cultures are not so pretty… Must have been left upside down for a couple of days… Maggots ate there way through the filter tops. Instars and maggots all over the place and no live flies left. Not the sellers fault but still frustrating... Needed the flies to start new ones, guess I'll be waiting... Is this a common problem?

not going to toss them... upsetting though seeing all the maggots, they would have been GREAT cultures...

That sucks... once ups left my culture outside all night without even ringing the doorbell, so we never knew it was out there...

One of the reasons I hate those toss away containers too... paper gets wet and then even a FF can get thru it, it seems! I've had shipments from Ed's get tumbled, but thanks to the different containers I've not had similar issues.

Looks like the media could have been a bit drier as well... the "perfect consistancy" of media for me means I can turn it upside down and smack it around and the media stays right where it is.
