Default FF Containers

What does everyone use to make and store their FF cultures in??

I have heard of using deli cups!!!

Can anyone tell me a home made solution???

I don't want to have to go buy any from an online store

I can get deli cups if necessary from the local deli...how do you set up the lid?

Most folks use lids premade for the purpose, with a breathable fabric bonded to the lid.
If you want to use cups from the deli, you could use a paper towel with a rubber band to hold the towel on (and flies in).

I use "power mix" a mix developed by Chris Miller (and his freinds)...works great, if you don't mind cooking for the flies, do a seach, and you will find the recipe, and probably a few others.

If you are just starting out, the instant, premixed medias are hard to beat.
you can make 1 culture at a time that way if you wish...that would be a PITA to do with the recipe I use.

Default 1 other thing.

One other thing you could use is mason (canning) jars with coffeee filters over the top secured by a rubber band or the metal screw-on rings for the jars. They seem to work great and are reusuable.
After the culture is finished you fill the jar with boiling water and sit it over night and in the mourning you dump it out and rinse it and it is ready for use again on the next culture. You can get 250 packs of coffee filters for 2.00 at stop and shop. this method will save you from buying cups at 70 cents each for every culture and takes very little work.
Also this was not my idea. I started using this idea recently after buying cultures at a local show from a well known breeder from this board who uses the jars for his cultures.
