I use the 32oz cups...
How much would you save by downsizing?

I can also get more cups in my cabinet... My ffs don't use the whole thing anyways so I may just try them and see how it goes. I can always switch back.

Kyle,

I've used 24 and 32 oz interchangeably with no observable impact on FF production...

I always use 24oz, i get a good deal on them at SAM'S club. For lids i use the plastic dome ones with a hole in the top for a straw (used for slurpy's and icy coffe's, they are free at most coffee shops), plugged with foam.

I don't have that many though, i only make about 6-8 cultures a week.

It works out at about $7 every ten-twelve weeks (plus media of course).

I would argue that you do indeed get more flies with the larger 32 containers. BUT! Only if you use an internal substrate like excelsior. We have played with 16, 20, and 24 oz. containers and did counts (tedious!) Our 32 oz. is the one we went with and the one we use for a reason. More flies! Take it or leave it, but it's what we found to be true.

The Mason Jar: buy once, reuse forever (or until you drop it).

I did that for years but with 40 cultures a week it was too much...
