Default Killing off Hydei Cultures

When keeping with the rule "thou shall not keep cultures longer than 4-5weeks", in order to curb mites, what are some good ways to kill off the cultures?
My hydei cultures are still producing strongly after this time but I'd like to reuse the containers. Waiting for them to die off naturely just invites mite issues.

Thougths?

I usually spray the inside of the container good with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. That works pretty well.

I put finished (or rather cultures I am finished with) in the freezer, and then thaw them out and clean the jars for reuse.

I dump the media in the trash/garbage disposal/toilet and rinse the container and scrub it to dislodge the casings, then run it through the dishwasher.

When I cleaned containers HOT water did the trick.
