Re: Sticky for Sending Fecals for Examination
One of the reasons fecals are preformed while in quarantine (vital) before , before adding frogs to a viv is that it is much easier to collect fresh fecals while in a smaller tub. Another is that once the frogs are in-viv the viv is permanently contaminated in many cases (until broke down) if the frogs are diseased. I personally collect poopp from captured frogs when needed to ensure freshness. But an in-viv dried out ,vs. fresh, moist log is not that hard to tell apart.
I'll ask my brother about input on how to ship pertaining to temps, insulation and such. I think with that info we should be good to go on written info for collecting a few poop samples and mailing them out.
If someone would like to grab a camera and whip out pics of a box with film can/baggies, baggie/can with paper towel, and a plastic knife scraping poop, we should be all set. Oh, and a few different looking poop samples.
I don't think this;
"For additional information regarding when to test, if one should test, how often to test, and recommendations from ASN see these links below. Additional information can be obtained using the search feature of this forum browser.
[add links here. Need to search, and select] "
is needed to go forward. Maybe nice to read later, but certainly not needed. I plan to start a thread later this week on when and why to test, but again, not needed in this caresheet alone.
