I have 2 plants that I'm curious as to why they arent flowering.

One being my false African violet, its pretty big, I got it from joshes frogs, on his site it shows this itty sprig with a flower on it. Well compared to that photo, mines huge. I've read the best way to get them to flower is for them to be root bound, problem is, how's it going to become root bound for it flower if its planted in the tank?

Also I gave my mother in law a clipping of my wandering Jew, hers flowered! My plant is huge compared to that little sprig I gave her. I'm jealous lol I didn't even know wandering Jews flowered but now that I know they do, I want mine to flower lol

How do I get them to flower? Mainly the false African violet. I'm dying for it to bloom.

I have an exo Terra hood, with 4 compact fluorescent bulbs, the bulbs are 5000k and lumens are 1600. So if I'm correct, their lighting is 5000k and lumens are 6400. I can't find any compact fluorescent bulbs with a higher rating them 5000k. But I've been told that this lighting set up would work.

Any ideas?

Thanks

So I'm moving to San Antonio in June. I'll be moving my entire collection down there sometime between June 15th and July 1st. I've got help on my end...

So I'm moving to San Antonio in June. I'll be moving my entire collection down there sometime between June 15th and July 1st. I've got help on my end loading things into a cargo van with trailer and am going to drive during the night to avoid the heat.

What I need is some muscle on the other end to get the racks set back up quickly and to get the tanks back on them. There are 3 29verts, 3 20H verts, 5 18x18x24s, 2 18x18x18, and 2 12x12x18 plus numerous cultures. There will be 2 48" racks to set up, 1 36 inch rack, and a misting system, lights, etc. Obviously this is gonna be pretty crazy, but my main concern is going to get the tanks out of the van and into air cond. as fast as possible. Some of the 18x18x24 will probably require two people to carry.

What I propose is to give the person(s) willing to help, a couple frogs for your effort. I'll have Fantastica/Varadero/Chazuta/Southern Variabilis/FG Vents/Truncatus/Banded Luecs etc available. I can also spare some nice clippings, spring cultures, tads, whatever for your time and help.

Now what would be really awesome if there was a group of people willing to help out and make it happen really fast. I'll supply some cold ones and pizza too.

Since I don't know yet exactly when or where, details are to follow, but if you can post if/when you can help, that would be freaking awesome.

And if you're feeling REALLY generous, we'll be moving the rest of our home sometime during this period as well.

Thanks all

Doug

Cracked Tank Silicone

So, I have a dual tank(I don't know what to call it) but basically it is a big tank and there is a piece of glass in the middle dividing the tank. One of the sides has a cracked piece of glass, the side without the frogs. I was wondering if I would be able to use this silicone that I purchased on the glass while the frogs are occupying the other side of the tank. Or is it bad for them to smell the silicone? It says it's safe for humans and fish, also it says it's safe for contact with food. So I'm assuming it's made to be around living things. But would it be bad if I applied the silicone to the side of tank? Or would it be bad for the frogs?

Am in a stage in my life where I cannot take care of my frogs. Out of town for the summer and have nobody to take care of them and I'm also moving early next year. I'm located in Central WI, but delivery within the state or to Minneapolis or Chicago is possible. I would like to sell the whole lot for $2,700 just to keep things simple. All the tanks and lighting are under a year old. With that said I have the following:

FROGS
1.1 Green Sips, proven and very productive
2.2 Mints, just laid their first fertile clutch
0.0.4 Red Galactonotus, about 9 months old
1.0.3 Fine Spot Leucomelas, 8 m/o, one calling male so far
0.0.3 Highland Bronze, 9 months old, very showy
0.0.2 Green Sips, 4 moths OTW

TANKS(all cork background, tons of orchids/broms/ferns, glass tops, computer fans, etc.)
1x 40 gallon breeder
3x Exoterra 18x18x24
1x Exoterra 24x18x24

LIGHTING
6x 18" compact tops with 13w Jungle Dawn Bulbs
2x 24" compact tops with 13w Jungle Dawn Bulbs
1x 48" T8 unit, 2 32w bulbs
2x 48" T8 unit, 4 32 bulbs in each
1x 48" T5 unit, 8 54w bulbs, Sunblaze brand

OTHER STUFF
Mistking Pro. System new in box plus tons of extra nozzles
Fruit fly cultures, media, etc.
Leaf litter, substrate, cork, driftwood, mopane
Tadpole rearing supplies

If you are interested, drop me a line with your number and we can talk details. I am just taking offers at this point. Will try to post some photos soon but until then here are some outdated ones from November:
