Default Tricolor or Anthonyi ??

http://www.flickr.com/photos/57305446@N04/5874503340/

Hi,

I bought some time about a epipedobates tricolor and now get some e. anthonyi because i thought the e.tricolor was anthonyi too.

I am asking for help to confirm if the frog from photos is a tricolor or anthonyi, i guess its tricolor but i am not an expert since i havenīt seen a really tricolor to confirm if it the same or not.

Thanks for help,

That looks a lot like the Highland Tricolor.

Which is Epipedobates anthonyi, not E. tricolor.

By size comparison, tricolor are also much smaller than anthonyi.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. I have a large group of highland tricolors and many of them are the same size or even a tad bigger than some of the anthonyi morphs i keep.

Also I don't think its a highland. They are usually solid cream with burgundy red on the sides.

Of course they are George, since your highland "tricolors" are anthonyi!

When compared to E. tricolor (both ABG and the EU imports) all the highland anthonyi that I've seen are much larger (like Santa Isabels).

Looks like a highland E. anthonyi to me, albeit with reduced white on the dorsum.

To the OP, this is what a true E. tricolor looks like.
E. tricolor "Moraspungo"
Epipedobates tricolor

You can see what E. anthonyi 'Highland' look like here (my group from Europe)
Let's see those Epipedobates!

I'm a bit confused by the first sentence. Can you clarify some?

Sorry. There are no such thing as "Highland tricolor". All of the "Highland tricolor" coming in from Europe are a population of E. anthonyi. If your Highlands are from Sean Stewart, they are E. anthonyi, not E. tricolor.
