Default 2009 Vivarium Voting

Congratulations to boogsawaste (jim) for winning the Vivarium contest. He wins a one year TWI Membership.

Here is his description of the tank:
Quote:
It's a 44 gallon pentagon (corner) tank. It's kind of hard to get good looking pictures of it because of the 3 separate panes in the front (a bow would be worlds better). It was finished initially in September of 08 but I just redid the bottom portion of it by moving some things around and removing some other things. But most of the plants were in there since the beginning and especially the ones growing epiphytically.

I voted for #2 because I find it very visually appealing , but I think #11 probably duplicates their natural environment the best.

I voted for #16 because I don't see nearly as many terrestrial tanks as I would like to that have that much depth. The visual flow seems really well thought out and the rock make for a unique backdrop in comparison to many of the vivarium themes I've seen. I guess I just like it!

I voted for #18, for its well-managed diversity of plants (not an easy achievement over the long run). Leaf-litter would probably be a better substrate for the Azureus, but as a planted terrarium, it is beautiful.

I love both 15 and 18. I like how 15 shows how just using a few types of plants repeatedly can look very natural; and 18 for the great plant diversity and insane moss growth.

Looking at all these great viv pics makes me wish I spent more time taking a better picture......The clarity in some of these pics is amazing, I can never seem to get the lighting right, and the balance of shadows, etc.

Well, I still voted for yours josh. Can't beat the realistic plant selection.
