Default not breeding

I have 2 11/2 yr old leucs. I have heard the male call a lot before but not in the past 2 weeks. But the female doesnt seem interested. Im misting, there is a fogger also. There are plenty of plants, film cannisters, and a coconut hut. They both sit in the same brom a lot but in diff locations on it. Temp and humidity are always good. I just dont get it. Any ideas?

How long have you had them? How long have you had them together? Are you sure you don't have 2 males? How long have they been in their current tank? How long is your light cycle? What are the temps specifically?

In my experience leucs can be slow starters and even picky about mate selection, but once you get a pair that clicks they can be very prolific.

Feed well, mist often, and have patience. If that doesn't work you can try and swap out one of them.

Good luck!

right now temp is 80 and hum is 78. During the day they are usually 78 to 82 and hum 80+. I have had them a yr. There is only one that I ever see call. The one I believe to be fem is a lot more plump than the one that calls. They have been together in a 30 long tank since I got them. Light cycle is from 6:30 am to about 9:30 to 10:00 pm. I am about to buy some more adults and stick in there with them. Maybe some new meat will crank their little tractors, lol.

might help to shorten the light cycle a few hours. 12/12 works well for us. You might try dropping the temps a few degrees too. I would suggest exchanging 1 frog at a time rather then just adding more to the mix. We've had more problems with egg eating with multiple females in a tank and I think the squabbling amongst same sex frogs (while generally harmless with leucs, which seem to tolerate groups better then others) tends to distract the frogs from more amorous activities. With a little luck and a lot of patience you'll find a combination that works!

It sounds like you have a probable pair, but leucs can be picky for a while. If you are fairly certain you have a pair, I would just wait it out before you add any other frogs. My pair took about a year and a half to start. Just when I had given in to the fact that they wouldn't breed, they started throwing good eggs. It's kind of a waiting game with leucs sometimes, but if you give them time, lots of food, high humidity, and the right light and temps they will come around. Having said that, I would drop your temps a few degrees and maybe increase the humidity just a bit.

Good luck!

When I was breeding leus they would never breed for me when it got that warm. They breed much better 75-78 for me for some reason.
